Development
Overview
1.
Initialization:
The first
step is to get a good understanding of
what the client would like to convey. We
take many things into consideration:
intended audience, timelines, budget,
access to information, collaboration
time, deliverable formats, etc. Then we
proceed with a detailed proposal
outlining everything from the cost to
the delivery date. The next step is to
construct a storyboard which acts as a
rough blueprint for development.
2. Modeling
and Creation:
We typically
use 3D modeling programs to generate our
graphics and animation. 3D Model
creation is much like sculpting objects
with clay, and can be very intricate at
times. In addition to this digital
sculpting, we frequently create custom
texture maps which are applied to the 3D
models like paint on canvas. Detailed
modeling and texturing is usually the
most time-consuming aspect in our
industry but brings a level of realism
unseen using any other medium.
3. Animation
& Rendering:
Once the 3D
models are ready, it’s time to bring
them to life one frame at a time. This
step requires accurate timing and
knowledge of object positioning,
movement and reaction with other objects
in a 3D world. Unlike cartoon animation,
3D objects can be animated with ease
using keyframes. This can cut down on
time substantially. Once the scene is
animated, it is time to automatically
compile the scene frame by frame by a
process called rendering. This process
is much like converting your film into
pictures with vivid coloring, life-like
shadows and reflections.
4. Post
Production:
This is the
final step and involves general editing
and finalization. Based on the client’s
needs, we can add professional
narration, sound effects, background
music, captions, labels and scene
transitions. There are numerous
deliverable formats available including
CD/DVD, streamable web media, and PDA. |
